Ankara, Sana- Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 175,512 Syrians had returned from Turkey to their countries since December 9.
This was made in remarks made by Yerlikaya to the Anadolu Agency today on the sidelines of events commemorating the 12th anniversary of the establishment of the head of the immigration department of the Ministry of Interior.
“The voluntary repatriation of Syrians has gained momentum and accelerated following the fall of the defunct regime on December 8.” Yerlikaya said adding: “We are doing what is necessary to create the appropriate conditions for the voluntary, safe, and honorable return of our Syrian brothers to their country.”
Yerlikaya pointed out that the number of Syrians who voluntarily returned to their country between 2017 and 2025 reached 915,515 people.
Regarding allegations of a “plan to resettle Palestinian civilians from Gaza in camps northern Syria,” the minister said, “Such allegations are completely unfounded.”
