Provinces, SANA – The National Leadership of Al-Baath Arab Socialist Party and several branches in provinces organized a number of activities on Tuesday to mark the 68th anniversary of establishing the party.
In Damascus, the National Leadership launched the new version of the website of Al-Baath Party which was originally launched 14 years ago.
During the ceremony, Assistant Secretary General of Al-Baath Party Abdullah al-Ahmar spoke about the parry’s history and the new challenges it is facing today, particularly the challenges posed by terrorist organizations running amok in Arab countries under unprecedented support from Western, regional, and Arab states.
Al-Ahmar said that all Western attempts to subjugate Syria have failed thanks to the determination of its people and army and the help of Syria’s allies and friends.
Another event marking the anniversary was organized in the Tartous branch, with participants affirming that Al-Baath Party will continue to defend the Arab nation’s causes and issues, while in Sweida province a seminar was organized in which participants talked about the party’s history and its battles against division, regressive mentality, and plots targeting the region.
The Army and Armed Forces also marked the occasion, with commanding officers delivering speeches in which they affirmed that the Syrian people will be victorious in their battle against terrorism and its supporters and pawns, and that Syria will remain an impregnable fortress in the face of its enemies.
The army’s celebrations included military displays and sports performances in a number of divisions and barracks, in addition to theatrical and artistic performances by the Military Theatre troupe which visited a number of units and facilities.
Coinciding with this anniversary, the 9th General Conference of the Revolution Youth Union began its activities at Al-Fayhaa Sports Complex in Damascus.
In a speech at the opening ceremony, Assistant Regional Secretary of Al-Baath Party Hilal al-Hilal said the Revolution Youth Union is one of the most deep-rooted popular organizations in Syria that played a vital role at many points in Syria’s recent history and in many critical fields.
Al-Hilal asserted that the Syrian state is committed to the issues and concerns of youths who represent the future of the country and embody the concepts of Arabism and patriotism.
The event was attended by representatives of Arab youth organizations, in addition to party figures, ministers, officials, People’s Assembly members, governors, heads of unions and popular organizations, Arab academic figures, and representatives of international diplomatic missions in Damascus.
Hazem Sabbagh
