Hasaka, SANA- Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East and Supreme Leader of the Syriac Orthodox Church Mar Ignatius Aphrem II held Saturday a mass at Mar Georges Church for Syriac Orthodox in Hasaka city.
Patriarch Aphrem II prayed, on the eve of the Easter, for protecting Syria and its steadfast people and army.
Earlier on the day, he called upon all Syrians, during a meeting with social and political figures in Hasaka, to be a part of the victory to be achieved by Syria against its enemies, affirming that the advances achieved by the army and the armed forces stress that the triumph is coming.
“We must serve the homeland and enhance the spirit of tolerance, cooperation and coexistence… We should be unified with the Syrian Arab army,” Patriarch Aphrem said
He stressed that Syria is the land of amity and peace, calling for defending it and rebuilding what has been destroyed at the hands of terrorists.
The Patriarch said that what Syria is facing today is due to its cultural richness and its historical role as it is the cradle of heavenly messages and it has spread the bases of science and civilization across the world, and it has been able to overcome the consequences of ignorance policies spread by the Ottomans.
For his part, Hasaka Governor Mohammad Za’al al- Ali said that the Syrians should unify ranks and defend the homeland and rebuild what has been destroyed by the terrorist organizations.
