Damascus, SANA- Foreign Minister, Asaad al-Shaibani, received on Friday a delegation from South Korea, chaired by Kim Eun-jeong, the Director-General of the African Middle Eastern Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Minister al-Shaibani welcomed the South Korean delegation and “stressed the need to open a new page and establish good relations, in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples and achieves security, prosperity and peace for the Syrian people.”
Eun-Jeong, in turn, affirmed her country’s keenness on establishing diplomatic relations with Syria for the first time, providing support for the reconstruction process, and backing a comprehensive political transition, economic recovery and supplying humanitarian aid.
“South Korea has experience in post-war reconstruction process and economic growth,” Eun-Jeong added.
She said that South Korea will provide food aid and assistance to support the health sector, and will also evaluate and provide urgent assistance as needed.
The South Korean official added that her country will encourage its businessmen to enter the Syrian market and engage in it.
“South Korea will intensify efforts to ease sanctions on the Syrian people.
