UN: Nearly 200,000 Syrian refugees return home since the fall of the former regime

GENEVA, SANA-Nearly 200,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country since the fall of the former regime, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said.

“About 200,000 Syrian refugees have returned to their homeland since the beginning of last December,” according to figures posted by Grandi on social media platform X, noting that 500,000 Syrian refugees in Lebanon had previously returned to their homes last year as to the Israeli aggression.

“Soon I will visit Syria — and its neighboring countries — as UNHCR steps up its support to returnees and receiving communities,” Grandi said.
