New York,SANA- Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Qusay Al-Dahhak, warned that the occupation entity’s continued ignition of wars in the region threatens regional and international peace and security, calling on the Security Council to stop the genocide in Palestine, the Israeli bombing and aggression on Lebanon, and the barbaric attacks on Syria.
“The Palestinian cause continues to enjoy strong and broad support from all countries that believe in international law, the principles of justice, and the rights of peoples, despite the actions of Israeli occupation, its systematic aggression, and its brutal crimes. The more the Israeli occupation entity takes additional aggressive steps in an attempt to liquidate this cause, erase history, and change geography, the more the number of those in solidarity and support for the Palestinian people will increase around the world.” Ambassador Al-Dahhak said in a statement on Tuesday during a Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East.
The crimes of the occupation would not have continued without the multi-faceted support provided by the United States and a number of its allies to “Israel”, and its tireless efforts to spare Israeli war criminals any accountability and enable them to escape punishment.
Al-Dahhak added that the Israeli occupation entity, within the framework of its continuous efforts to ignite the region, it launches almost daily attacks on Syrian territory, targeting civilians safe in their homes, including women and children, and residential neighborhoods that include diplomatic headquarters and missions and offices of the United Nations, in addition to targeting economic facilities and service facilities, including roads, bridges and border crossings used by those coming from brotherly Lebanon to escape the Israeli killing machine.
“My country calls on the Security Council to immediately implement its relevant resolutions, most notably resolutions 242, 338 and 497, to ensure the end of the Israeli occupation of Arab lands in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon, and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state and its full membership in the United Nations”, he underlined.
Al-Dahhak concluded that Syria condemns the deliberate Israeli attacks on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and stresses the need to preserve the security and safety of the force’s personnel, as well as the security and safety of the UNDOF and UNTSO missions, and not to compromise their mandates.
