Syria participates in conference on enhancing international cooperation in combating terrorism- Kuwait

Kuwait, SANA- Syria is participating in the high-level conference on “Enhancing International Cooperation in Combating Terrorism and Building Flexible Border Security Mechanisms – Kuwait Phase of the Dushanbe Process” which is being held in Kuwait.

In a speech during the two-day conference, Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Ambassador Habib Abbas, head of the Syrian delegation, stressed that the increase in terrorist and criminal activities facing our world today has become a common threat to all countries, which requires the establishment of a unified approach to combating cross-border terrorism and organized crime.

Abbas added that Syria has been fighting terrorism coming to it from all parts of the world since 2011 until now, and has succeeded in cooperation with friendly countries in defeating most of it.

He noted that the continued illegal and completely unjustified presence of US and Turkish forces in northern and eastern Syria under the pretext of fighting terrorism falls within the context of investing in terrorism and providing cover for the continuation of terrorist activities and brutal crimes.

The Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister stressed that the unilateral coercive measures imposed by some countries against other countries are a form of economic terrorism and a tool of collective punishment against peoples; in addition to causing great human suffering to the population, calling for immediately lifting these measures.

Ambassador Abbas reiterated Syria’s full commitment to international cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and its readiness to cooperate with all international parties to achieve regional and international security and stability, on the basis of respecting the principles of the United Nations Charter and its resolutions related to combating terrorism.
