Malaysia prepares draft resolution to expel “Israel” from the United Nations

Kuala Lumpur, SANA- Malaysian Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, has announced that Malaysia is preparing a draft resolution for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to propose Israel’s expulsion as a member if it persists in violating international law concerning Palestine.

“The draft resolution is in the negotiation process and it is expected to be tabled at the UN General Assembly for approval soon,” Malaysian News Agency quoted Ibrahim as saying Monday during a session of the Malaysian Parliament.

He added that once approved, the resolution is expected to be a legal basis for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to continue providing aid for the Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories and in other countries.

On October 31, 2024, Malaysia became a member of the Core Group tasked with preparing a resolution requesting an Advisory Opinion from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding Israel’s obligation to allow United Nations organizations to conduct their activities.
