Damascus-SANA- Fayssal Mikdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met Thursday with the South African delegation visiting Syria.
The visit is aimed at discussing the humanitarian aid that South Africa will provide to Syria, in the presence of Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa in Damascus, Barry Philip Gilder.
Minister Al-Mikdad expressed Syria’s high appreciation for South Africa’s standing by the Syrian people during the years of crisis and its provision of humanitarian aid to overcome the challenges of the earthquake and its devastating repercussions.
Mikdad also stressed the inhumane and immoral impact of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria in obstructing the arrival of humanitarian aid and preventing it from restoring its capabilities and securing the necessities.
Ambassador Gilder reiterated South Africa’s firm position in supporting Syria in the face of terrorism, and in coordination with the relevant Syrian authorities in order to provide the required humanitarian aid the Syrian people need as quickly as possible.
