Baghdad, SANA – The Iraqi Foreign Ministry has condemned in the strongest terms the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran and the Iraqi flag in front of the Iraqi embassy in Denmark, and called for an Islamic summit to confront these actions in Copenhagen and Sweden.
“It is unacceptable to qualify these heinous incidents as part of the right to freedom of expression and demonstration,” the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement called on the international community to urgently confront these atrocities that violate social peace and coexistence throughout the world.
In an earlier statement, the Iraqi ministry affirmed “full commitment to the Vienna Convention to regulate diplomatic relations between countries,” and that the Iraqi government is responsible for providing protection and security to diplomatic personnel in all missions.
