Damascus, SANA-In Syria, even sport defeats war and terrorism. Deir Ezzor is an example of that equation, whose club was crowned Champion of the Syrian Premier League this year following difficult years that Pearl of al-Furat lived under the pressure of the worst terrorist organizations.
President Bashar al-Assad received Wednesday players and Adminstration members of al-Foutoua Football team, stressing that the joy of winning the league championship is not only sports or football, but rather it is patriotic because it represents a victory for the will and a defeat for the difficult conditions, therefore the fans of all clubs, even the rivals, shared the joy with them , and they obtained the respect and appreciation of all Syrians.
The President congratulated the team members for achieving the league championship and discussed with the club administration, Chairman of the General Sports’ Federation and President of the Syrian Football Association the challenges facing football in Syria in general and in Deir Ezzor province in particular, especially in light of the big destruction left by terrorism in various sport facilities.
President al-Assad encouraged the team’s players to maintain the advanced level they have realized, and shared with them their ideas and proposals to find solutions to the obstacles facing football and developing it, particularly in their province.
