Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union decides to send a delegation to support Syria

Baghdad, SANA-The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union announced on Saturday the formation of a delegation to visit Syria, affirming its support and standing by its people.

In its final declaration issued at the closing of its thirty-fourth conference held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, the Union stressed the need to work for Syria to return to its Arab environment and play its important role in the Arab, regional and international arenas.

“Those gathered declare their solidarity with Syria and have decided to form a delegation representing the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union to confirm support in the aftermath of the earthquake that hit several cities,” the statement said.

Regarding Palestine, the statement reiterated the firm position of supporting the Palestinian people and considering their cause as the core of the Arab and Islamic nations.

Likewise, the support and solidarity of Iraq and the need to provide everything necessary to improve its stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of terrorism were affirmed.

The declaration rejected any ideology that calls for hatred, racism, exclusion and marginalization under any pretext, and called on religious, intellectual and educational institutions to confront the ideas of extremism, violence and terrorism.
