Lattakia Governor ,WHO delegation discuss ways to deal with earthquake repercussions

Lattakia, SANA- A delegation from the World Health Organization(WHO) discussed with Lattakia Governor possible support capabilities for the health sector to face the repercussions of the earthquake that hit Syria at dawn last Monday.

During the meeting held in Lattakia Governorate, Governor of Lattakia, Amer Hilal, called for supporting the health sector, which has been suffering from the consequences of the coercive measures imposed on Syria for years, to provide the necessary care for those affected by the earthquake.

The Governor stressed that the State and its institutions are making exerted effort in search operations for those trapped under the rubble, to remove the devastation left by the earthquake and to alleviate the suffering of those affected.

For his part, Head of the delegation and the WHO’s regional director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari, affirmed that Syria needs international support from international organizations to face the repercussions of the earthquake.

He indicated that they are working to convey the suffering they experienced during their visit to the affected areas and the extent of the damage, the aftermath of the earthquake, and the need to find solutions for the people who lost their homes.
