Tehran, SANA-President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, affirmed on Tuesday his country’s support to the Syrian people during the reconstruction process through boosting economic cooperation.
Raisis, who received Defense Minister, Major General Ali Abbas, described relations between Iran and Syria as strategic.
“Relations between the two countries are based on faith, joint doctrines and the spirit of resilience as well,” President Raisi said.
He added that sacrifices and heroism of the Syrian Army to protect the country against terrorism inspire hope for the future of Syria.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is the true friend for the Syrian people, just as it has stood by Syria, government and people, during the period of confronting terrorism, it is also ready, during the reconstruction process, to support the Syrian people through enhancing comprehensive economic cooperation,” the Iranian president said.
Abbas, for his part, said that Syria, with the support of brothers and true friendly states, has been able to gain victory in the war on terror.
He described relations between Syria and Iran as deeply-rooted that are progressing day after day, saying “no one can affect these relations.”
In the same context, Abbas discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Brigadier General Mohammad-Reza Ashtiani, issues of mutual concern and the challenges facing the region.
During the meeting, General Abbas affirmed Syria’s willingness to broaden cooperation and promote the level of cooperation with Iran in all fields.
Ashtiani, in turn, said that the Syrian-Iranian relations are witnessing their best historic period, calling for the withdrawal of all occupation forces from the Syrian territories, particularly the Americans as their presence is illegitimate and threatens Syria’s security and unity.
He condemned the Israeli occupation’s recurrent aggression on the Syrian lands, saying “This entity won’t understand anything, but the language of hostility and arrogance.”
