Terrorist war on Syria caused large losses to developmental achievements, Minister says

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Muhammad Hassan Qatana, has affirmed that the exceptional circumstances that Syria is passing through because of the terrorist war and unilateral coercive measures have badly affected achievements of many years of sustainable development and caused large losses.

The Minister, who participated in a virtual dialogue organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on Thursday, said that the terrorist war caused losses in a large part of the development projects in several sectors, in addition to a retreat in the important economic indicators such as self-sufficiency of food and basic commodities.

He stressed that Syria has contributed to achieving the sustainable development goals through its participation in the regional consultations for defining its priorities in the Arab region, as well in the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2015.
