Late goals by Japan beat Germany 2-1 , World Cup Group Stage

Doha, Qatar SANA— Substitutes Ritsu Doan and Takuma Asano scored late goals Wednesday to give Japan a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Germany at the World Cup.

German footballer and Manchester City’s captain Ilkay Gundogan scored his team’s first goal in the 33rd minute from a penalty kick.

The Japanese squad did not manage to score an equalizer during the first half of the match, but Ritsu Doan scored the team’s first goal in the 75th minute.

In addition, Takuma Asano scored Japan’s second goal in the 83rd minute, restoring the hope of Japanese fans for the team to progress beyond the group stage.

Germany will face Spain on November 27 and Costa Rica on December 1, while Japan will lock horns with Costa Rica on November 27 and Spain on December 1.
