Algiers, SANA-Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, discussed with President of the Algerian Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, bilateral relations between the two countries.
Minister Mikdad stressed the importance of the role of parliaments in defending the rights of peoples who suffer from occupation and terrorism with all its forms, including economic terrorism represented by the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the US and its European allies against the Syrian people.
He briefed the Algerian official on the political developments on the Arab and international levels, expressing his happiness to participate with the brothers in Algeria the celebration of the 60th anniversary of their country’s independence and the restoration of its national sovereignty.
In turn, Goudjil expressed his pride in the deep brotherly relations between the two brotherly peoples, praising the resilience of the Syrian people and their leadership against terrorism and the conspiracies that were hatched against them, stressing his country’s rejection of any interference in the internal affairs of countries.
Goudjil said that Syria is a fundamental member of the Arab League and has a pivotal role in the joint Arab action, pointing out that Algeria is working through parliamentary diplomacy to support the Syrian stance on various Arab and international arenas.
In a statement to reporters after the meeting, Minister Mikdad valued the stances of the Algerian parliamentarians who stood by Syria in all circumstances.
