Orthodox Palestine Society in Russia celebrates anniversary of its foundation

Moscow, SANA- Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society in Russia held a ceremony on Saturday to mark the 140th anniversary of its foundation. The ceremony was inaugurated by its President, Sergey Stepashin in the presence of Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, and a number of diplomatic and official figures.

Syria’s Ambassador to Russia, Riyad Haddad, said in a speech that the Orthodox Palestine Society, effectively and influentially, supported the Syrian people in the war against international terrorism, adding this support has benefited the Syrian people and enhanced relations between both the Syrian and Russian people.

‘The Association should complete its noble mission, as the situation in the Middle East and in the whole world is no longer easy’, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, said in a speech.

Lavrov noted that the association was established as an important project to protect citizens who are subjected to persecution or being displaced from their countries due to extremism and terrorism.
