Syria, FAO to enhance cooperation on agriculture production

Damascus, SANA-Prime Minister, Hussein Arnous, received on Thursday Abdel Hakim Al-Waer, Assistant Director-General of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and Mike Robson, the resident representative of the organization in Damascus and an accompanying delegation.

Talks during the meeting dealt with means of enhancing cooperation between the Syrian government and the FAO and to build more active partnership that achieves positive impact on the agrarian sector.

 

Arnous referred to the damages caused to the agricultural sector, farmers and livestock breeders as a result of the terrorism to which Syria was exposed.

For his part, Al-Waer pointed out to the importance of outlining programs and priorities that meet the needs of agriculture, showing willingness to secure the required substances in cooperation between FAO and the Syrian government to achieve the hoped-for results in improving the agricultural situation.
