Damascus, SANA- Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Amro Salem, discussed with a delegation of the World Food Program of the United Nations, headed by Ross Smith, the representative and regional director of the program in Syria, ways to develop cooperation relations between the two sides, particularly with regard to the implementation of support programs necessary for the work of companies and the ministry’s institutions and their needs.
Minister Salem breifed the delegation on the large burdens that the state bears to provide the necessary needs for all its people, especially in light of the unilateral Western economic measures imposed on the Syrian people.
Salem affirmed the ministry’s readiness to work and coordinate directly with the organization to make its work in Syria a success in a way that serves the citizen and provide all the required facilities, stressing the government’s keenness to cooperate with international organizations.
In turn, Smith stressed the importance of cooperation with Syrian government institutions to rehabilitate the food sectors, particularly the damaged bakeries and mills, indicating the allocation of budgets for the rehabilitation of the Yarmouk Mill, in addition to some bakeries in the provinces of Daraa and Sweida.
