Idleb, SANA – Head of Olive Bureau at the Ministry of Agriculture Department in Idleb Muhannad Malandi said that more than 25,000 tons of high quality Syrian olive oil were exported to 26 countries during the current season.

Malandi told SANA that the Syrian olive oil is witnessing a growing demand, although the productivity for the current season of olive decreased to 450,000 tons from one million tons.

Malandi pointed out that the total area planted with olive trees reached 700,000 hectares which include 106 million trees, among them 82 million fruitful trees.

He expected olive sector will witness an improvement due to the adequate weather condition and rainfalls of the year.
