Lantern is a simple tool used for lighting, and Syria has been famous for making lanterns made of metals or clay.

The unearthed lantern is made of copper and at its top there is a hole to supply it with oil.

The lantern has also a round handle which is on the shape of a heart, in addition to a chain for hanging it, Vice-Chairman of Labs at the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums Mahmoud al-Sayyed said.
