Damascus, SANA- Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Hussein Makhlouf, discussed with Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Mehdi Rashid al-Hamdani, and an accompanying delegation the water situation in the two countries and aspects of cooperation in the face of climate changes and underground water management.
The two sides stressed on Thursday the necessity of joint work, exchanging information, data, experiences, technical and scientific communication and everything related to water developments in the interests of both countries.
Minister Makhlouf stressed the importance of having integration and partnership between both sides to overcome challenges and the impacts of climate change on the region, pointing out to Syria’s keenness to enhance bilateral relations in all fields and getting aquatinted with the experiences of both sides in terms of investing water resources.
For his part, Minister al-Hamdani affirmed Iraq’s readiness to cooperate and find a common solution to the obstacles and conditions facing both countries and unify the Iraqi-Syrian vision regarding their share in the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
