Syrian-Palestinian talks on enhancing cooperation in agricultural sector

Damascus, SANA- Syria and Palestine discussed prospects of cooperation in the agricultural sector and supporting the researching side and exchanging expertise.

This came during a meeting held between Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Mohammad Hassan Qatana and Palestinian Agriculture Minister Riyad al-Attari and the accompanying delegation in Damascus on Thursday.  

Qatana reviewed, during the meeting, the reality of the agricultural sector in Syria and the losses it has exposed to due to the terrorist war against it, asserting the joint cooperation in the domains of agriculture and livestock, in addition to benefiting from the experiences of the neighboring countries in the research and studies domains.

For his part, Attari pointed out the difficulties that the agricultural sector has suffered from in Palestine due to the policies of the Israeli occupation and its aggression against the Palestinian lands.

The Palestinian Minister said that the cooperation domains could include a number of developed types of crops, in addition to offering support in the field of agricultural guidance services, developing the fish farms and the using of alternative energies to operate the wells.

Director General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) ,Dr. Naser al-Din al-Obaid, attending the meeting, said that the Center works on achieving integration among the Arab countries as the agricultural development plans benefit from the programs and projects that the center is implementing.
