Homs, SANA-The 2nd wind power turbine in al- Dahabiyah area on Homs-Tartous highway was connected on Saturday to the electrical grid in Syria, as the new turbine started to supply the grid with 2,5 megawatts of electricity.
Director of Planning and Statistics at the General Company of Electricity in Homs, Eng. Bassam al-Youssef told SANA in a statement that linking the second wind turbine came as a continuation of the project of generating electricity from the wind power, with a capacity of 5 megawatts, ahead of licensing the first turbine with a capacity of 2,5 megawatts which started to generate electricity in 2019.
In turn, Rabie Elias, Executive Director of WDRVM company for alternative energy and heavy industries, said that each wind turbine contributes to enlightening five thousand homes.
He also underlined the importance of supporting industries in the field of alternative energies
