Damascus, SANA- Christian denominations in Syria celebrated Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, the messenger of love and peace, by holding masses and prayers in the churches and worship places in all Syrian provinces.
At St. George Patriarchal Syriac Orthodox Church in Damascus, mass was presided upon by Patriarch Mar Ignatius Aphrem II, who talked about the lofty meanings of Christmas, the messenger of peace and love, congratulating the Syrian people on the occasion of Christmas, who have withstood in the face of terrorism.
Patriarch Aphrem II called upon the international society to play active role to stop the unjust siege imposed on the Syrian people, expressing hope that Syria would restore security and stability to all its lands.
A mass was also held in the Evangelical National Church in Damascus, presided upon by Reverend Boutros Zaour, the spiritual head of the church and the head of the Evangelical Synod in Syria and Lebanon.
In Hasaka, prayers and masse were held in churches and places of worship to celebrate christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, and the prayers called for the victory of Syria, its people, its army and its leader.
In Lattakia, prayers and masses were held on this occasion in all the province’s churches, the Christmas sermons highlighted the values of love, tolerance and peace.
