Festival and mass held on occasion of Saint Barbara’s Day at Jesus the King Church in Swaida

Swaida, SANA- Prayers and a mass were held at “Jesus the King” Church in Swaida on the occasion of Saint Barbara’s Day (Eid il-Barbara), with lighting the Christmas tree on the occasion of the Jesus birth, the messenger of love and peace.

During the mass, Archbishop Elias al-Dabei, the Pastor of Archdiocese of Bosra, Horan and Jabal-Arab, pointed out to the noble meanings of the two occasions, praying to God to protect Syria, its leader, and army, hoping goodness, security and peace would prevail all across the country.

Speaking to SANA , al-Dabei referred to the importance of commemorating this feast for what it bears of humanitarian values that unite hearts on amity, giving and sacrifice.

The tree was lit at the Churchyard and was covered by 4000 CDs with a height of 9 meters to be the first of its kind that is completely made of such materials with songs written on them and photos of Jesus Christ embodying the humanitarian fabric at the province.

Children at the ceremony wore sweaters with “peace and Goodness” words written on them and performed plays directed for kids to enhance the spirit of and love and solidarity, along with dances that brought joy to the participants.
