Damascus, SANA- Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hammoudah Sabbagh, described as “deep-rooted” the Syrian-Indian relations, affirming the importance of enhancing parliamentary relations between Syria and India to serve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.
Sabbagh, meeting the Indian Ambassador in Damascus, Mahender Singh Kanyal, hailed India’s stance in support of Syria in the war against terrorism and at international forums, referring to the Syrian people’s suffering because of the terrorist crimes unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the country.
He congratulated Mr. Kanayl on assuming his mission as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Syria, wishing him success in his tasks.
The Indian ambassador said that Syria has confronted terrorism in defense of itself and the rest of the world.
In a statement to reporters, the Indian Ambassador hailed the social, cultural, and historic friendship relations that bind the two countries, affirming his country’s stance that solution to the crisis in Syria should be Syrian without any external intervention in its domestic affairs.
