Damascus, SANA- Syria and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have discussed mechanisms for developing cooperation between the two sides in the fields of alternative energy and the environment.
That came during a meeting between Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Chairman of the Higher Committee for Relief, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, and Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Syria Dr. Iyad Nasr.
Both sides reviewed the projects implemented by the Fund in a number of regions and projects that can be implemented and that are in conformity with national standards, which will reflect positively on the services provided to citizens.
Minister Makhlouf stressed the need to work to expand the projects and activities that are agreed upon in partnership between government institutions and agencies, and to involve the local community in selecting projects that meet its requirements according to priorities.
Dr. Nasr, for his part, expressed hope to deepen cooperation to achieve the requirements of sustainable development and build capacity at this stage for all Syrians by working in accordance with the national vision and in line with the requirements of government agencies and the local community.
