Artifacts and Heritage Exhibition opened in Dummer incubator for traditional arts

Damascus, SANA- Artifacts and Heritage Exhibition was held in Dummar central incubator for traditional arts affiliated to the General Union of Craftsmen in Damascus under the slogan “Syria is History and Civilization”.

The exhibition, which lasts for ten days, included several pavilions to display the traditional products of the craftsmen, mainly Fragrance extraction, tanning, folklore handicraft, and shells and copper inlays in wood, handcrafts of straw, and natural silk, embroidery, handbags, wooden musical instruments, leather, pottery, medicinal herbs, and various clothing products produced by a special section in the incubator.

Chairman of the General Union of Craftsmen Naji al-Hadweh told SANA in a statement that the exhibition came within the Union’s program and plan aiming at promoting the traditional handicrafts and heritage in order to develop the craft products to cope with modern technology, adding that these exhibitions constitute an opportunity to marketing the craftsmen productions.

Executive Director of the Incubator, Louay Shako, said that it is the first specialized exhibition by the incubator and aims at empowering the craftsman to develop himself and imports his raw materials and marketing his products by himself.

The participants stressed that the exhibition is a chance to support and encourage the craftsmen to continue work in their crafts and perpetually develop them.

 

In a statement on the sidelines of opening the Exhibition, Special Advisor at the presidency of the Republic, Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, appreciated the valuable products in the exhibition asserting that Syria owns hidden treasures and it is undefeatable.

Shabaan called for supporting, preserving and developing the traditional crafts, and helping the craftsmen to market their productions, warning that the main goal of terrorism was eliminating these traditional crafts.
