Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister Faysal Mikdad discussed on Monday with Dr. Khalida Bouzar, Assistant Secretary General, Assistant Administrator & Regional Director Regional Bureau for Arab States (UNDP) areas of cooperation with UNDP and the strategic plan for the upcoming four years.
Mikdad reviewed priorities of development work that Syria needs during the current stage and in the near future, affirming that the Syrian government views the UNDP as a reliable partner to achieve sustainable development.
Mikdad pointed out the need for creating a balance among the humanitarian and relief work, and the development work, and early recovery projects and building resilience.
He pointed out the economic and social repercussions of unilateral coercive measures, which stand in the way of launching further effective development projects, whether in cooperation with the UNDP or other United Nations agencies and bodies.
For her part, Bouzar reviewed the strategic vision in which the UNDP work to achieve it and the importance of expanding its work in Syria in domains of resilience building and early recovery, in addition to the development domain, which constitutes the focus of work of the UNDP.
