Lattakia, SANA- In cooperation with the helicopters of the Syrian Arab Army and the Russian Army, the joint firefighting teams from the Forestry Department at the Agriculture Directorate, the Lattakia Fire Brigade and the Civil Defense have put out a fire that broke out in the agricultural lands between al-Safarqiah village and Benjaro village in Qardaha countryside and it has entered the cooling stage.
Head of the Forestry Department at the Agriculture Directorate, Engineer Bassem Douba, said in a statement to SANA reporter, that the firefighting teams have taken control of all the fire fronts and they are currently working to cool the sites to prevent it from igniting again.
He added that the Forestry Department used 5 fire engines, two firefighting teams, a tractor and a wheel tractor, in addition to vehicles from Lattakia Fire Brigade and the Civil Defense to put out the fire.
For his part, Commander of Lattakia Fire Brigade, Major Mohanad Ja’afar, stated that the firefighting vehicles headed from Jableh and Qardaha, in addition to a vehicle from the Lattakia Fire Brigade to deal with the fire, which has been put out and is being cooled in more than one location in cooperation with helicopters from the Syrian Arab Army, estimating the damages at more than fifty dunums of forestry and agricultural land planted with olive trees and citrus fruits.
