Homs, SANA -Firefighting teams in Homs on Friday extinguished two fires which broke out in dry grass, and fruitful trees in Homs western countryside.
Head of the Homs Civil Defense, Ghiyath Akel told SANA reporter that the branch’s operation room, in cooperation with the Homs Fire Brigade and the Agriculture Directorate, put out a fire erupted in agriculture lands in the villages of Jarnaya and Arkaya, indicating that the fire spread to agricultural lands in the village of al-Mahafurah in Homs Western countryside due to strong winds and high temperatures.
He clarified that the area of the burned lands reached 175 dunums, planted with olive, and fig trees, amounting about 1,600 trees.
He added that branch’s operation members managed to erupt another fire that broke out in dry grasses and olive trees in the agricultural lands of the village of al-Khansa in the western countryside of Homs, pointing out that the burned area reached up 10 dunums planted with about 100 olive trees.
