“Palmyra… the Sun Tale”… exhibition showcasing 30 pictures on ancient city

Damascus, SANA – The presence of Palmyra’s traditions and history was dominating in the exhibition of “Palmyra..the Sun Tale” with some 30 pictures reflecting beauty of the desert historic city and narrating tales of the past.
More than 30 pictures were displayed in artist Ibrahim Dandal’s exhibition, which was held Monday at People Gallery in Damascus, where the Palmyran artist basically used carving on wood and metal in his works.

Dandal, born in 1973, presented historic narrations of the ancient city, depending on color contrasts (white and black colors were greatly used) and the intensification of symbols.

The artist told SANA that he used hand techniques to come up with symbols that picture lives of Palmyran women and the beliefs of city’s residents and their relation with humanizing the place, which reflects mythologies as an organic part of the historical themes of the pictures.
