In a statement to SANA on Tuesday, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Eng. Alaa Shuhaib, pointed out that the production is better than last year as a result of gradually reviving beekeeping by workers in this field and providing appropriate conditions for feeding bees.
He pointed out that the Directorate encourages beekeeping based on the importance of working in this sector as an income resource for some families and the existence of benefits for bee products other than honey.
Sweida governorate last year produced 16.5 tons of honey.
