People’s Assembly discusses ministerial statement of the government

Damascus, SANA- The People’s Assembly on Sunday held its 1st session of the 1st ordinary round of the 3rd legislative term chaired by its Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh to discuss the ministerial statement of the government which includes the agenda of the upcoming phase, in presence of Prime Minister Hussein Arnous and Cabinet Members.

At the beginning of the session, the Assembly referred a number of draft project to the specialized committees to study them and prepare necessary reports regarding them.

Sabbagh stressed in a speech at the Assembly, that the Assembly and the Cabinet will work together to serve the people and the homeland.

Sabbagh pointed out that Syria has successfully passed a significant stage in facing the powers of evil, hostility and terrorism and all kinds of economic, media, psychological and diplomatic wars which are in continued escalation, particularly following the large victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Army against terrorism.  

Sabbagh saluted the Syrian Arab Army, the souls of its brave martyrs and courageous wounded, as well as the resilient Syrian People who are rallying around their army and leader.

Sabbagh concluded his speech as stressing the need to adhere to the approach which President Bashar al-Assad has talked about in his speeches in front of members of the People’s Assembly and members of the Cabinet in dealing with the tasks and challenges, on top of them possessing the means and the ability to meet needs of the people in best possible and available ways in light of the pressures and siege Syria is facing.

Prime Minister affirmed that the government priorities are boosting the constituencies of the homelands steadfastness and its security, seeking to improve the living standards as the government has put at the top of its priorities, discussing the means of increasing the incomes; including the wages and incentives for workers in the country according to the available resources in addition to purchasing power of SYP and guiding the import and encouraging the national production.

Arnous underlined the importance of completing the reconciliations, returning life to the damaged areas and treating the phenomenon of displacement as well as files of the kidnapped and missed persons and delivering aids to all regions.
The government is committed to provide the needs of the local market and reduce the demand on foreign currencies, increasing the exports, supporting the damaged projects and providing production requirements, as Arnous stressed.

He noted to the importance of developing the agricultural sector, improving the security food condition, supporting the agricultural production and providing all the requirements of production and increasing it.
The Government is committed to reform the industrial public sector and enter new industries and enhance the use of technology and optimal investment for the labors to meet the needs of the market from products and commit to develop the tourist sector and enhance the atmosphere of the tourist investment.

In the same context, Arnous indicated the government is dedicated to take steps for achieving energy security and to provide the largest possible amount of oil derivatives according to the priorities that serve the production.

The Prime Minster stressed that the government is also committed to support the Syrian Arab Army in the war against terrorism and work to liberate all the occupied Syrian territories and continue to follow the principles of the Syrian foreign policy.
