Damascus, SANA – The First Sharia Judge in Damascus Mahmoud al-Maarawi said that Sunday 24/05/2020 is the first day of Eid al-Fitr holiday.

In a statement on Friday, al-Maarawi said that the waxing crescent that signifies the beginning of the lunar month of Shawwal was not observed on Friday night which is the 29th day of Ramadan, and thereby Saturday is the 30th day of Ramadan and Sunday is the first day of Shawwal and Eid al-Fitr holiday.
