The Hague, SANA-Syria’s permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Bassam Sabbagh, affirmed that the report of the so-called “Investigation and Identification team” released by the technical secretariat of the organization on April 8th included incorrect conclusions, based on false and fabricated information to forge facts.
“The report aimed to accuse the Syrian Government of using toxic, chemical substances in incidents that took place on 24, 25 and 30th of March, 2017 in Ltamenah town in Hama,” Sabbagh said in a statement to the Organization in response to the report.
He added that Syria condemns, in the strongest terms, the conclusions included in the “illegitimate report” and rejects it, in form and content, and Syria considers it as a translation of the wishes of the US and its western allies to target Syria.
Sabbagh stressed that the conclusions of the report are untrustworthy as they are released by a team which is a tool to politicize the work of OPCW and change it into a platform that serves purposes of known countries.
He reiterated that Syria categorically denies any use of toxic, chemical materials in Ltamenah or in any Syrian city or village, adding that the Syrian Arab army doesn’t possess such weapons and has never used them.
Sabbagh went on to say that the report has depended on fabricated photos and videos that were broadcast on internet websites or on witnesses presented by armed terrorist groups and the so-called “White Helmets” organization.
