Damascus, SANA – The council of the Syrian Chambers of Commerce Federation on Tuesday held talks with a German parliamentary delegation on the possibility of restoring economic and commercial relations between Syria and Germany to their former state and working to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria.
Chairman of the Federation Ghassan al-Qalla’a stressed the importance of working towards lifting the Western sanctions and blockade imposed on the Syrian people and towards reestablishing economic relations between the two countries.
For his part, Secretary General of the Federation Mohammad Hamsho said restoring relations must be preceded by lifting sanctions, noting that prior to these sanctions, Syria’s trade exchange with Germany was the biggest among all European states.
In turn, head of the German delegation MP Frank Pasemann said his party and parliamentary bloc reject the blockade on Syria and believe in the need to have good relations with Syria.
He also stressed the importance of the return of Syrian refugees from Germany so that they can contribute to the reconstruction and development of their country.
