Moscow, SANA- Foreign ministers of the guarantor states of Astana process reaffirmed adherence to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, asserting respect to these principles by all the parties.
A statement published on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website said that “Foreign ministers of Russia, Iran and Turkey as guarantors of Astana process held a tripartite meeting on sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly through which they welcomed completing the process of forming a committee to discuss the constitution.”
In their statement, the ministers expressed determination to support the work of the committee through the continued interaction with the Syrian parties and the UN Special Envoy for Syria, and they agreed on holding the first session of the committee in Geneva.
The Ministers affirmed that this decisive step will pave the way for an applicable political process led by the Syrians and facilitated by the UN in line with the decisions of the Syrian National Dialogue in Sochi and the Security Council’s resolution No./2254/.
The concluding statement of the meeting held between Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and head of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sep. 16th asserted firm adherence of the three states to the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic and its independence and territorial integrity and to the goals and principles of the UN.
