Damascus, SANA-Ministry of Agriculture expected an increase in the production of olive for this season in comparison to the last season that suffered from a production decrease due to the environmental conditions and a sabotage that affected the farms because of terrorism danger.
Engineer Abdul-Mo’en Qidmani, director of production at Agriculture Minister told SANA that the production of the olive decreased in 2018 in comparison with the previous years.
He added the Ministry sets plans to repair and maintain the farms sabotaged by terrorism.
Director of the olive department, Mohammad Jabo, for his part, said the production of this year is expected to reach 830 thousand ton, and nearly 150 thousand ton of olive oil.
He added that the production of the olive still covers the local needs and Syria exports good quantities to many states.
Statistics of the Agriculture Ministry indicate there are nearly 82 million trees of olive.
