Damascus, SANA- Ambassador of the Algerian Republic to Syria Saleh Bousha affirmed that relations between his country and Syria ” are continuous and rapidly developing in different political, economic and social domains,” indicating that the two countries have the political will to invigorate cooperation and to restore economic relations to their previous level ahead of the crisis.
In a special interview with SANA on Algeria’s participation in the 61st session of Damascus International Fair , Ambassador Bousha indicated that his country will participate for the first time in activities of the fair since its return two years ago.
He added that through its participation, Algeria expresses willingness to open the door for the return of the Algerian companies to the Syrian market in a step towards rebuilding a partnership that would serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples and countries.
He added that Syria has been the first economic and trade partner for his country as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries in the year 2010 reached up to USD 600 million.
He pointed out that Syria used to participate regularly in the Algerian expos and its last participation was in the activities of Algeria’s International Fair last June.
The Ambassador considered that there is an opportunity for activating the cooperation agreements the bases which had been set by the Syrian-Algerian Joint Committee in 2010, referring to the capabilities enjoyed by the two countries which will enable them to increase the volume of trade exchange.
He added that his country will participate in Damascus International Fair through four major groups that embrace many companies which work in the sectors of the local, mechanical, electrical and transport industries.
The Ambassador reiterated his country’s stance in support of Syria and in rejection of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on it, considering that the participation of many Arab countries in Damascus International Fair is a “positive step”.
