1573 participants in 1st test for Programming Marathon for children, youths

Damascus, SANA_ 1573 children and adolescents from different governorates, participated in the first qualifying test for Programming Marathon for children and youths recently held in the Center for Lifelong Learning at the Syrian Virtual University in cooperation with the Excellence and Creativity Commission.

The test was conducted in centers of the Virtual University and branches of the Syrian Computer Society in the governorates of Damascus and its  countryside, Sweida, Homs, Hama, Aleppo, Lattakia and in Tartous.

It aims to evaluate the skills of analysis and reasoning in children and adolescents participants through solving a group of questions of logical and computing thinking and answering a number of questions in the general logic axes,  logical puzzles , analytical thinking, information technology and basic mathematics concepts.

The participant who achieves 40% or more of the total score of the test will qualify for the second  qualifying test, depending on his / her age category and class.

The successful students will be trained in their governorates within 50 training hours after the end of the current academic year.

On  March 25, the Syrian Virtual University and the Excellence and Creativity Commission launched the 2019 programming Marathon for Children and youths in order to prepare a generation that keeps up with the technology development and contributes to finding solutions that serve reality in the different sectors.

The marathon includes the children’s competition (8-11 years) and the youth competition (12-15 years). The two competitions aim to test the optimal performance of solving several questions divided into three groups:

A software question that is shaped as a game, requiring the contestant to implement it using the graphical programming language “Scratch”.

Questions of logical and Computing thinking.

C ++ programming questions, taking into account the complexity of each age group

A contestant who can perform the bigger number of required tasks in the right and correct form of software wins and in a way that deepens logical reasoning skills and problem solving and enhances the role of the contestant as a solution designer.
