Scientific Forum for members of Syrian Science Olympiad teams launched

Damascus, SANA- Excellence and Creativity Commission of the Syrian Science Olympiad launched on Sunday the Scientific Forum for the Syrian national teams in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Informatics and Biology to prepare them for the participation in the upcoming International competitions.

Head of the Commission Imad al-Azeb told SANA that the forum, which is held at the Martyrs’ Daughters School, comes within the commission’s strategy to discover the talented students in the scientific fields and provide training for around 141 students who make up the teams and to provide theoretical and practical training to help the students achieve the best possible results.

In turn, Director of the Syrian Science Olympiad Ali Abu Khader said the scientific forum is an opportunity for students to meet with the Central Scientific Committee of the Olympiad which comprises 30 professors at Damascus University and the Syrian Scientific Institutions in addition to 30 trainers from Damascus University and scientific research centers.

He pointed out that at the end of the forum, 23 teams will be chosen to participate in the International Scientific Olympiad 2018.
The upcoming international competitions are scheduled to start next July 12 as the Informatics Olympiad will be held in Japan, mathematics in Romania, Physics in Portugal, Chemistry in Czech and Biology in Iran.

The Forum became an annual event that brings together the excelled students from different provinces.
