Damascus, SANA – Minister of Industry Kamal-Eddin Touma discussed with Ambassador of Belarus in Damascus Alexander Ponomarev means of boosting industrial cooperation between Syria and Belarus and establishing joint projects.
The talks, which were held during a meeting on Thursday, touched upon the possibility of Belarus participating in the post-crisis reconstruction process in Syria.
The issue of re-operating the industrial facilities which have been suspended or sustained damage due to the terrorist organizations’ acts and providing them with the necessary equipment, machines and raw materials were also highlighted.
Minister Touma underscored the possibility of benefiting from the technical advancement in Belarus in the field of engineering industries, in addition to establishing a factory for manufacturing molds.
He invited the Belarusian companies to make use of the “promising investment opportunities” in the industrial sector in Syria, in addition to activating the work of the Syrian-Belarusian committee and expanding joint projects enlisted on its program, and funding them through loans or credit lines.
For his part, Ponomarev stressed the importance of going ahead with the project of establishing an automotive assembly plant, in addition to benefiting Syria from the Belarusian technological advancements so as to enable the Syrian companies to resume production.
He added that the Belarusian companies and experts are ready to come to Syria and contribute to the enhancement of the Syrian economy and industry, in addition to providing the country with the necessary mechanisms and finance to remain strong.
