Moscow, SANA – Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed the use of advanced technology in the recent drone attack on Hmeimim air base and the Russian maritime logistical base in Tartus.
Speaking to journalists, Putin said that Russia knows who was behind the drone attack and how much they paid to carry out this provocative act as well as the time and location of delivering these drones and their number, noting that the drones have advanced technology managed by satellite radars to fire mortar rounds and return secretly to the base.
He noted that such provocative behaviors aim at undermining previous agreements and harming relations among the guarantor states of the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria, indicating to the current efforts and ongoing preparations to hold the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi.
On the other hand, the Russian Presidential Office said that President Putin and President of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation on the importance of implementing Astana outcomes regarding the crisis in Syria.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Office added that Putin and Erdogan exchanged viewpoints about the situation in Syria and the implementation of agreements on cessation of hostilities and establishment of de-escalation zones.
It noted that stress was laid on political settlement to the crisis in Syria and the significant contribution of the upcoming Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi to reach this end.
The two sides underlined the need to activate the role of soldiers and security apparatus in fighting terrorist groups in Syria, especially following the recent terrorist attacks on Hmeimim air base.
