Patriarch Yazigi: We pray for peace prevailing in Syria  

Damascus, SANA- On the occasion of the New Year, a mass was held on Monday at the Greek Orthodox Mariamite Church in Damascus, presided upon by Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East John X Yazigi along with a number clergymen and the Church’s choir.

During his sermon, Patriarch Yazigi invoked God to protect Syria, its army and its leadership,  praying that peace prevails in the one unified Syria and that the logic of reconciliation and dialogue finds its way to its entire people.

He also called for ending the war on Syria, lifting the unjust economic siege imposed on the Syrian people and demanding for releasing of all the abductees, on top of them the two kidnapped Archbishops of Aleppo.

Patriarch Yazigi implored God to offer peace and stability in Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq and the whole world.

Masses and prayers were also held across the Syrian provinces on the occasion of the New Year
