Syria Trust for Development opens a library at Bab Sharqi Manara

Damascus, SANA – Syria Trust for Development, in coordination with the Regional Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), opened on Tuesday Bab Sharqi Library at Bab Sharqi Manara, one of Syria Trust community centers.

The library provides free access to books and information, and its contents vary from scientific and literary books to cultural and academic ones in both Arabic and English languages to provide youth and students with needed information for scientific life.

UNESCO Assistant Director Qian Tang stated that the library is an encouragement for the youth to help develop their country, adding that the library comes as one of the organization’s duties to encourage education, science, tradition, and culture for the process of development.

Secretary of Syria Trust for Development Fares Kallas said that giving the youth access to books, ideas and information is the core of developing their capabilities to be future leaders.

For her part, Director of Syria Trust in Damascus and its Countryside Zanobia Ranjous said that opening the library is considered as a model for the social management.
