Vice-President and Tunisian delegation affirm necessity of restoring diplomatic ties

Damascus, SANA – Vice President Najah al-Attar received on Sunday a Tunisian parliamentary delegation, headed by Mbarka Brahmi.

Dr. al-Attar said that Tunisia is a brotherly and friendly country that has genuine defenders of the principles of the Arab nation, highlighting the deep-rooted historical cultural and educational relations binding Tunisia and Syria.

“We believe in the unity of our identity, goals and aspirations. We have never forgotten the necessity of joint work to achieve our goals,” she said, expressing the hope that diplomatic relations between the two countries will be restored.

For her part, head of the Tunisian delegation affirmed that the Syrian Arab Army is fighting on behalf of the entire Arab nation and that Syria is paying a heavy price because it has not been bowed to the U.S. and Zionist dictates and has not signed a peace agreement with the Zionist entity.

She considered that the diplomatic representation between Tunisia and Syria should be up to what the two brotherly peoples deserve, stressing that the Tunisians who were misled into joining the ranks of the terrorist organizations do not represent the Tunisian people.
