The National Vaccination Days continue in all provinces aiming at reaching to all children under five

Damascus, SANA-The National Vaccination Days continued on Wednesday in all provinces via the health centers and mobile teams for the second day amid emphasis on providing all requirements in order to reach to all children under five.

During a visit to Fayaz Mansour Health Center in al-Mazzeh area in Damascus, Health Minister Nizar Yazigi said that the National Vaccination Days were launched on Tuesday, targeting children under five, adding that the vaccination days include an anti-polio vaccination campaign and a campaign for enhancing the regular vaccinations.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Health has taken all preparations to ensure the success of this campaign, adding that 9000 health workers, including 79 volunteers have been deployed to carry out the campaign in addition to 813 cars.

He said that vaccines used in Syria are safe and for free and of high quality, adding that the aim of the successive vaccination campaigns is to reach to children in all areas and immunize them from dangerous childhood diseases in order to ensure their health.

For her part, Resident Representative of the WHO Elizabeth Hoff expressed the WHO’s support for the exerted efforts to improve the vaccination situation of children and promote vaccination activities, particularly the immunization the children who have not previously been vaccinated throughout the country.

She added that the WHO supports the national vaccination days by providing the necessary training for 7700 field workers in the provinces, including 3412 mobile teams providing vaccines through 785 cars provided by the organization to facilitate vaccination operations to hard-to-reach areas.

The National Vaccination Days, titled “My Health in My Vaccination”, will continue till April 27th and they come in conjunction with the World Immunization Week.
